    Description

We are offering an 1880's Sioux Indian awl case constructed of native tanned hide, sinew sewn and beaded; one loop for hanging and two soft leather tails. Cases like this were used to house an awl, or perforator - a tool used for making moccasins, clothing and other beaded items. Holes would be perforated in the hide and then sinew would be placed through it to hold the hide together and also attach beads. The awl case measures about 7 1/4" long. In very good overall condition. Some beading towards the top is loose but still holds/ intact. Normal wear commensurate with age. Please study photos as they are part of the description.
