    Description

Antique Native American Subarctic Woodlands Glass Beaded Panel - 1800's
Attributed to: Cree, Creek, Ojibwa, or similar Northern tribe.
STUNNING piece! This just shimmers in the light.
Glass beads are very tiny, some irregular sizes and shapes, very meticulously stitched.
    Bead colors:
    Turquoise - several shades
    Deep Red
    Navy Blue
Light Brown - similar to the color of tobacco
    Black
    Green- several shades
    Clear/Silver
I am not familiar with the story the artist is telling - looks like a nature-based pattern, or maybe the migration of a butterfly on its journey(?)
Floral - Leaves -  Butterfly - Red Birds or Flowers at top, the black beads seem to imply a path, water or air on the right side, earth on the left side (?) I would absolutely love to have this interpreted.
Has been in a frame and is in EXCELLENT condition with no loose or missing beads.
Unfinished bag panel on canvas, I believe was done using the Overlay stitch - see photos.
    Canvas is 10 1/2" by 10"
    Beadwork 8 1/2" by 8"
