Description
Up for auction is a small
beaded pouch, presumably made from animal hide. The piece measures 3"
tall x 2-3/4" wide x 1-3/4" deep. The bag appears to have been stored
flat and is thus creased along the edges(I'm uncertain, it may have been
made that way to fit snugly when stored against the body). The bottom
and inner side supports are made from a box of wheat, French, and dated
1893. The inside lining is torn and I was able to remove a piece as
shown). The orange thread handle is broken and has been mended several times before. Most of the beading appears intact. From the research I've done it would seem this was made by the Plains Tribes, which would explain the wheat box pieces being in French. This is not really my area of expertise, but I will try to answer any and all questions. Feel free to email me with any questions and thanks for looking.
