    Description

DESCRIPTION: A dated 1886 Wall Pocket made in the NorthEast USA and Canada by the Iroquois and Mohawk Tribal Indian Peoples in the late 1800's to early 1900's mostly.  These beaded handmade crafts were featured at Gift Shops, Fairs, and Exhibitions, and some, like this were dated, and even signed, including place of sale.  Gift items often included beaded pin cushions for sewing, match box holders, tie holders, whisk broom holders and the like.  European glass Trade Beads from Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, and France were used for beading onto various types of fabric.  This has a nice cord with tassels for hanging and will look very sweet on your wall!  The handmade beadwork is very pretty and intact.
SIZE: ~6 3/4" top to toe- about 8" length including beaded fringe. ~5" wide boot heel to toe.
CONDITION:  Good Used condition, with expected wear and tear. The Fabric on the front is thread bare in a few places near the mid section and toe.  The fabric is an olive color front, and shiny red on back- which shows some staining but no rips. Toe seam in back is a bit loose but not "ripped" (see pic.). Beads appear to be intact and all there as far as I can see.  There is original writing on the back in pen: "Wall Pocket 1886".
