    Description

Native American Indian Lakota Sioux Beaded Medicine Bag. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail
Outstanding Lakota Sioux Beaded Medicine Bag. The beadwork is done on a leather face and the backing is in red velvet. The bags interior is lined with old trade cloth, there is a long leather draw at the top. The bag has had silk fringe added to it at one time. I believe that the beaded face is older than the other parts of the bag. It looks to be late 19th century. I believe the rest of the bag was done in the early 20th century given the materials used. It also has the Z4 brand stitched in the back panel. This is the brand of the HT ranch in Amidon North Dakota, that was founded in 1896. The HT ranch traded in the wild Mustang horses of the northern plains. These mustangs were/are the horse of the Lakota Sioux. The size of the bag is 9"x5-3/4 inches without the fringe. With the fringe the total length is 19 inches. There is some minor bead loss shown clearly in the photos. The bead work is tight and in great shape.
