    Description

RARE & STUNNING UMBILICAL CORD AMULET FETISH WITH BEADWORK & INDIAN HEAD PENNIES
    -
You are considering a museum quality umbilical cord amulet or fetish with beautiful beadwork, fringe including brass beads and four 1880's Indian Head Pennies added as decoration. The piece has been in my family for over fifty years and is in amazing condition. The leather remains soft and subtle, the beadwork is complete as well as all the fringe. At the nose of the lizard shaped amulet are to ties to attach to the owners belt. These would traditionally be kept for life. This super example came from the collection of Pat Read. Pat was a third generation trader with the Native Americans and had shops in both the Southwest and Lawrence, Kansas. You are considering a wonderful piece of Native American culture with provenance. The Good luck to my winning bidder.

    :
Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this item and as part of my description. Overall this item is in spectacular antique condition. The entire length is approximately 24 inches and the lizard body is 8 1/4 inches long by 2 inches wide. All the beadwork, fringe and decorative pennies are still intact. Truly a magnificent antique piece of Native American artistry and culture. I will include a copy of Pat Read's postcard with the item to the lucky winner as proof of provenance.
