Description
VERY OLD PLAINS INDIAN AWL CASE WITH OUTSTANDING BEADWORK & DECORATIVE TASSELS -You are considering one of the finest and oldest awl cases offered here on Ebay. The awl case appears to be a Plains tribe region based on the style of the magnificent eye dazzling beadwork and the decorative tin cones. I am sure anyone out there in Ebay-Land will immediately know the rarity of this awl case will certainly want to add this one as a fine example to their collection. The case was purchased from Pat Read; see my last two listing photos for a postcard taken at one of his many shops. He was a third generation Trader from Lawrence, Kansas. Good luck to my winner.
Many of the artifacts I have posted on E-Bay were purchased around 40 - 45 years ago, but most are much older.
Be sure to check my other listings... as I will soon be posting a number of other Native American jewelry items as well as collectables in the coming weeks. I always combine items for saving on shipping when they can be shipped safely together. Please wait for my invoice with combined shipping costs.
CONDITION:
Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition and as part of my description. The awl case appears to be thread sewn and not sinew sewn. The beadwork seems to be 98% intact and only some of the elements coming out of the tin tassels have deteriorated over time.
The entire length of awl is 16 inches in length. No awl was contained in this case when it was purchased, you are bidding on the case only. I guarantee you will not be disappointed, should you be the lucky winner. A copy of the postcard containing Pat Read will be included with the necklace as provenance to this piece. I will carefully box this item to the winning bidder by Priority Mail.
